ABOUT THIS TITLE

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE FARCEBOOK BESERKERS AND SOCIALISM COUNTERCULTURE BECOMES MAINSTREAM?

IS THIS THE BOOK OF THE COUNTER-COUNTERCULTURE? (ASKING FOR A FRIEND)

You've clearly arrived here by accident. For that, I won't apologize.

When I get stressed, sometimes I create a simple graphic which expresses my concern du jour. It might be something about things which I want to preserve, even in only memory form. It might be political - or more often, "anti-political."   I might then post it on that wretched repository of the lame, Farcebook.  It depends. I suppose it is like folding a thousand origami paper cranes. Eventually, it makes me feel better, but that's about all. It doesn't change the world.  The greatest lie of the social media years has been that there is no politically motivated algorithm. It's ALL about manipulation. It's our technological equivalent of what kept the citizens of ancient Rome happy - "bread, and circuses".

So this is a personal book, a frolic,  something  that started as a diary-style series of posts I've made on Farcebook during the course of the last few years. It's my knee-jerk reaction to the elite who have been using their power and capital to marginalize the humanity of  entire societies. To the evils of politics, politicians, public non-servants, the political apparatchiks and the elite's nomenklatura who have made it all possible.

I didn't write it for you. I wrote it for myself.

(If you want to read the book and not buy it, that's fine.)

Social Media exploits and insults us shamelessly, so why shouldn't we  disrespect and exploit them in return? Why shouldn't we tell them they're scoundrels to their face?

In years to come, we will realize that the compliant Imperial Media were as much a part of the leftist beserkers as Marx, Lenin and Stalin have been evils of the last century.  The MAGA we needed to have been more afraid of all along isn't Trump's, it's  Meta, Apple, Google and Amazon.

The only thing that upsets the Left beserkers more is that others discover that their critics may have been right all along.  My fault for not realizing it sooner.  The "Guilty Thoughts" in the subtitle, well, you'll have to work that out yourself. Start at regret.

I had been thinking of pulling the plug on Farcebook and this book became an expression - to myself - of what I preferred not be entirely lost when I am gone.  Everyone has been told (by those same Social Media, actually)  that nothing ceases to exist once it's on  the internet, someone has it on their server somewhere.  But when you resign from Facebook, and delete your account, who bothers to look?

         What's it matter?

Q & A

Q:What's with the PDF Version?
A:  The publishers (Blurb) hold these out as a suitable replacement for the ePub files which were readable on all electronic formats. That's crap. Being pdf files, they are readable, but the display of two page spreads has become screwed. Blurb's production process adds a 'Null' page, (necessary for physical bookproduction) but which throws out all PDF two-page spreads when the "two page to a view" view is selected on your reader.

Q:  The PDF version breaks the two-page spreads. What can I do?   " I've complained to Blurb. This is what they say:

" If you would like to view two pages of your PDF at a time, please try changing your PDF view settings as below:

     1.    In Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, go to View>Page Display     and  make sure that "Show cover page in two page view" is selected.

      2.    Then, go to View>Page Display and select Two Page View. (You can also choose Two Page Scrolling if you prefer. Try both and see which you prefer)."

If that doesn't work for you, you might consider modifying the file  if you have access to a pdf editing program. Use your editor to delete the first blank page , or move it to the end of the book. That way the two-page spreads will re-allign.

Q:Why no ePub version?
A:  The publishers Reichling Press (Blurb of San Francisco and their licensees) have discontinued them. Follow the money trail. There were too many cost issues involving the licensing fees for authors who didn't use the fonts that Blurb had licenced.  For a company that fancies itself as being woke creative, their limited font range resulted in enforced non-creativity.  Their choise of enforced  fonts was crap, pure mainstream. All fonts are NOT created equally. My favorite font is P22 Typewriter which can be had for free. I used it extensively as it mimics typewriter text of the WWII era.

Q: Is there a standard landscape version?   A:  Yes.

Q: Why are these books so effing  expensive?

A: Cost is a measure of rarity. That's the nature of print-on-demand books.  You want one book, they print it specially for you. Just one copy. You're a rare individual, it's a RARE BOOK!

Q: Are there discount vouchers or  promo coupons available to lower the price?   A: Yes, but you have to look for them. I suggest you Google the words "Blurb.com,  Discount, Coupon, Promo" and the current month.  Sometimes you can score between 10% and 35% depending on how much they need their cash-flow in San Francisco. If you know me personally, I may be able to get you my Author's own discount, but only when they offer it, which isn't often.  You'll need to trust me with your credit card details.

Q: If I join Blurb.com, do I get a membership discount?   A: No. Blurb wants authors more than they want direct buyers. The discount on "your first book" is only for books you yourself have published.  You've still got to look for coupons.

Q: Is it available on Amazon?   A: Amazon adds a hefty fee to the Blurb base cost. Even if you have free delivery from Amazon, it's still cheaper to buy it direct from Blurb. So the answer is "No."  Isn't Jeff Bezos rich enough?

Q: Is it available on Apple?   A: You like paying more to Apple than a thing is worth, eh? Apple requires that page numbers be removed from the eBooks they sell through their iBooks Store. I have a "thing" about page numbers. I like 'em. So the answer is "No." Also, following that money trail, Apple also adds their fee on top of the Blurb base cost, and it's  cheaper to buy it direct from Blurb.

Q:  What is the answer to the Ultimate Question about Life, the Universe and Everything?

A: 42.
